| After watching the show - I hadn't even realized he didn't have a solo with another celeb singer. That's how forgettable he is. To say it would have been "one of the most compelling and unique performances" of the show and that there will probably "not be a set of competent pianists on the show anytime soon" is a bit too much, he needs to OD on some humble pie and get over himself.
Let's see how well he does in itune downloads/cd sales. | |

| whether it would have been compelling or not is hardly the point. He and Matt were not given a spotlight and both of them earned it. Do you honestly think that bikini tramp or del whoro deserved any kind of spotlight over these 2????????? gimme a break, like I said....no cred whatsoever. | |

| It is a ENTERTAINMENT show. Every year they have this kind of BS on it for it's finale so it doesn't surprise me. And the fact they have churned out some real good winners like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson I do see it as credible for sure. To say the show has lost it's credibility I think is going too far and ridiculous. | |

| no, what is ridiculous is a pig in a bikini given a spotlight and one of the judges ripping off her dress to show us her body....but hey if you are into that kind of ENTERTAINMENT...have at it. but once again, you missed my point. SHOCKING! | |

| Whether or not I am "into" that kind of entertainment is regardless. I was simply reiterating the fact that it's an entertainment show. Your point was not missed, if you point was to say they should have been given the opportunity to showcase their talents on stage one last time. American Idol is no different than any other reality show where they are looking to produce a show as how THEY the producers see would make for good entertainment. Which was my point and I believe which was missed. | |

| I like Jamie Foxx but I just don't think he is what its going to take to fill Simon's shoes. They need someone who is going to be harsh and keep it real. Again, for me, the only person who comes close to this is Piers Morgan. I read at the end of the article, that Madonna is being considered...I hope not. Jamie Foxx on 'American Idol's' list of Simon Cowell replacements; one of A-listers being considered Related News According to Life & Style, the Academy Award winning actor and singer is one of the names being tossed around to replace Cowell when he leaves "Idol" after the current season. Cowell is leaving "Idol" so he can focus on bringing his British hit X Factor stateside in 2011. Foxx is no stranger to "Idol," either. Last season, he mentored the finalists during Rat Pack week and performed his single "Blame It" on the mega-hit reality show. Other bold-faced names mentioned as a possible replacement for Cowell include Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine and Madonna, according to Life & Style. | |

| soon I hope as these auditions have been horrible. Like last night, in the first 12 minutes of the show, we saw one person. He was profiled and sang and he sucked. He was the big giant sweaty guy who looked like a reject from "That 70's show". What a waste of time. But the winner for the WORST guest judge to date......Avril Lavigne. What a stupid sickening bitch she was. Please don't EVER ask her back again! I am mostly annoyed with idol this season so far. Every week there is at least 3-4 sob stories. STOP IT!!!!! | |

| Yeah Avril Lavigne in general is sickening but this didn't help her cause being that she provided nothing to the show. I liked NPH and Katy Perry as a guest judge. American Idol is turning into Extreme Home Makeover with their sob stories. Just Sing!!!!!! | |

| interesting.... Howard Stern to American Idol: Pay Up and I'll Judge! Today 8:12 AM PST by Breanne L. Heldman ox may want to invest in a quick-triggered bleep button. Rumors that Howard Stern is considering taking Simon Cowell's soon-to-be-vacant seat on American Idol are true! The shock jock confirmed the buzz yesterday on his Sirius radio show. "There's not a better job on the planet than judging that f--king karaoke contest," he said. "It might be possible, we'll see. They'd have to pay me a ton of dough because I already make a ton of dough." Given that Stern's $500 million contract with Sirius is up at the end of the year, the reality show really would have to come up with a ton of dough. Some reports even speculated that Stern was being offered a number that matched his radio gig. "By the way, they had it all wrong," he said. "I never said I got made an offer. I said I was in discussions to take over a show on a network. "They got me up to $100 million a year," he went on, referring to the various reports of his would-be salary. "I'll do that. I like that. You know what? OK. $100 million to judge a karaoke contest? OK. Why not? Oprah takes every offer on the table, why shouldn't I? "Yeah, I would do that show for $100 million. It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job—$100 million for four months! Who wouldn't take that?" Not only is the King of All Media confident about his chances at cashing in big-time, but he's not too worried about filling Cowell's big, albeit cranky, shoes. "If I do say so myself, I can't imagine anyone else but me replacing him," Stern said. "I mean, I don't know. How else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who's not afraid to speak their mind? "By the way, if I was the judge on American Idol, looks would play into the judging, too," he added, saying that his tenure would be "like The Biggest Loser and American Idol combined. I'm gonna be frank with these people." Of course, he would have some costars to contend with. Let's not forget who's making her series debut tonight. Stern said he'd have no problem sitting next to newbie Ellen DeGeneres, but doubts she'd stick around long after he started. Still, he thinks Ryan Seacrest would be the first to depart should his hiring come to fruition. "Oh, he's leaving. He's gonna quit...If I come in there, it's gonna be like Exodus...They're gonna look like Jews running out of Egypt," Stern said. "He'll probably go over with Simon to that other show. F--- it, let's just get a hot chick in there. I have better chemistry with hot chicks." Then again, all this Idol chatter may just be idle chatter, with Stern posturing for his next round of contract negotiations with Sirius. ________ | |

| This story is a couple of weeks old but it's just SO fucking insane I had to share it! Police: Argument over "American Idol" leads to stabbing, arrest[Pinellas County Sheriff's Office] Mug for Cynthia E. Bettis-Ware, 52, accused of first-degree attempted murder By Katie Sanders, Times Staff Writer Posted: Jan 27, 2010 12:55 PM ST. PETERSBURG — Police said a St. Petersburg woman took a TV dispute too far Tuesday night when she stabbed and scalded her boyfriend over "American Idol.'' Police arrested Cynthia E. Bettis-Ware, 52, on a charge of first-degree attempted murder of Kevin Johnson, 47. It happened at 11:22 p.m. at the Empress Motel, 1501 Martin Luther King St. N, which the couple listed as their permanent address, said police spokeswoman Jennifer Dawkins. The couple were watching American Idol when they began arguing over something that happened on the show, Dawkins said. He changed the channel to stop the argument, Dawkins said, but she kept arguing so "he decided, 'Well, I'll go to bed.''' He awoke to Bettis-Ware wielding a 10-inch butcher knife. She stabbed him five times in the back and twice in the chest, an arrest affidavit states. Police said she also severely burned Johnson with hot cocoa. Johnson took the knife from her and ran to the motel parking lot, Dawkins said. Bettis-Ware chased after him with another knife, she said. Soon a crowd formed and someone called police, who arrested Bettis-Ware in her motel room, she said. She was being held without bail in the Pinellas County jail Wednesday. | |

| I was so annoyed by the show last night. Not only do we have to suffer through all the freaking sob stories during audition week, but now they have to rehash it during Hollywood week!!! UGHHHHHH Ryan-"You remember so and so from our audition is *insert city here* he/she had this *insert heartaches, disease, jailtime, etc* THEN.. we have to hear their freaking story again!! I am not a heartless person but enough is enough!!!!!!! STFU AND JUST SING!!!!!!!!!! I am having a difficult time getting wrapped up in the show this season. I can't remember any of my favs from the auditions because they want to spend tons of the little time they have on bullshit. Let Simon leave if he wants, it will give me a GREAT reason to stop watching. | |

| Chris Golightly Disqualified From 'American Idol' Top 24Singer replaced with Tim Urban, reportedly due to confusion over previous boy-band contract. Let the drama begin. As if the two-night Hollywood rounds finale weren't already filled with enough joy, heartache and tears, "American Idol" producers threw one last twist into the mix at the end of Wednesday night's program by pulling a top 24 switcheroo. After picking seven of the top 24 on Tuesday night, the judges culled the herd down on Wednesday to carve out the remaining 17 semifinalists, which appeared to include curly-haired Chris Golightly, whom we met at the Los Angeles auditions, where he talked about bouncing around between 25 foster homes as a child. Golightly was seen in the group shot near the end of the show — at which point only 11 boys had been chosen on screen. But during the traditional finalist introduction dance segment that closes Hollywood, he was inexplicably replaced by Tim Urban. "It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition," read a statement from Fox. " 'American Idol' contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24." A spokesperson for the show could not be reached for further comment at press time. Hours after the disqualification was revealed, show host Ryan Seacrest posted the same statement on his Twitter page, where he also announced that this year's contestants will have MySpace, Twitter and Facebook pages on the "Idol" hub. He did not elaborate on why Golightly was booted. Golightly reportedly spoke to the "Idol" fan site JoesPlaceBlog.com on Wednesday night after the show aired and said that he had an old contract with a boy band that expired in June 2009. He said he auditioned for "Idol" in July, after the contract had expired, and when he made it to Hollywood he had to sign an "AI" contract that asked if he had any current contracts, to which he answered no. After making it to the top 24 in January, Golightly said he broke the lease on his apartment and sold his car to pay off the lease fees, only to get a call a week ago from the person who held his previous contract telling him that he was still under that agreement. Chris said he was not under that deal anymore, but couldn't find his release. After a round of phone calls between the singer and "Idol" execs on Wednesday, Golightly was informed just hours before the Hollywood finale aired that he would be disqualified because he couldn't definitively prove that he was not bound to the previous contract. Sadly, according to Joe's Place, the old manager later found the contract release and e-mailed it to Golightly, but it was too late, and because he made the top 46 this year, he reportedly cannot try out for the show again next year. Urban, a floppy-haired 19-year-old Texas native who started playing guitar when he was 13, first popped up on many "Idol" watchers' radar when he sang a David Cook song during Hollywood Week. He has not been prominently featured so far in the audition rounds. The last-minute disqualification mirrors a similar situation last year, when Joanna Pacitti was cut from the show due to unexplained conflicts after making the semifinals. At the time, it was reported that the former "Annie" star and onetime major-label signee had been tossed from the top 36 to "avoid the appearance of impropriety," an allusion to her alleged close personal relationship to some of the executives at 19 Management, one of the companies that manages some of the show's winners. The Golightly/Urban drama comes as fans are wondering what happened to rumors that brawny new father Michael Lynche was also DQ'd during Hollywood after his father allegedly outed him as a semifinalist to a Florida newspaper, a no-no according to "Idol" rules. | |
