| Jersey Shore: 'The Situation' admits DWTS is 'a challenge'; Pro Karina Smirnoff has change of heart
Jersey Shore-star-turned-Dancing With the Stars celebrity Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is speaking out after his first day of dance practice. "Just got home from a long but great day of practice and press," The Situation tweeted in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. "DWTS is going to be a challenge but I know I have #situationnation behind me." Monday was The Situation's first day of DWTS rehearsal, but before he even hit the dance floor his professional partner Karina Smirnoff expressed her concern over their short practice schedule. Following their first rehearsal, though, Karina seems to have had a change of heart. "First rehearsal went great! We are working our butts off!" Smirnoff tweeted. "(The Situation) is super cool and a hard worker too! I'm excited!" The Situation and Karina will only have four days to practice due to the Jersey Shore star's previous obligations to MTV. That gives them a major disadvantage when Dancing With the Stars Season 11 premieres live on Monday, September 20. The rest of the celebrity dancers have been practicing for at least a week already. We're betting The Situation and Karina Smirnoff will tackle the DWTS situation and make it past the first round of cuts. The Sitch FTW!

| Ok, I didn't know his fans were called the "situationnation", which is frickin' hilarious! I think him & Karina will be a hot little couple. Definitely sexual chemistry, I'm sure. That sucks that they only have 4 days of practice, but they should still get through the first round. I've heard from so many people that they are excited to watch, BECAUSE of The Situation. Can't wait! | |

| So Lorraine, what'd ya think? It was pretty bad. I'm actually glad they knocked him down a few notches. I think he could do ok, if he takes it seriously. I'm guessing it's a LOT harder than he thought it would be. OH, and how painful was it to watch The Hoff????? | |

| The Hoff was painful to watch..yes. Margaret Cho did NOT need to make it a comedy routine. Bristol Palin=NEXT! LOVED the atheletes (of course) I thought Kurt Warner and Rick Fox were great. Audrina and Brandy are going to be contenders, I only see them getting better. I loved that young kid from the Disney show. Florence Henderson is a hoot and even though I know she wont make it to the end, she shows a lot of guts and God bless her 76 year old body. She cracked me up when she lifted up her shirt and called out the situation. I'm indifferent to Michael Bolton and of course the bright spot for me was watching the situation. I hope the fact that he had a lot less time to practice is a factor and he gets much better. I didnt think he was THAT bad last night...lol. Ok now for my sickening moment. I have nothing against Jennifer Gray but that whole Patrick Swayze, playing the music from Dirty Dancing, Carrie Ann and Jennifer crying made me sick. If she dances to I had the time of my life, I can only root for her to lose. Sorry, I'm not heartless, but it was just overly maudlin and screamed VOTE FOR ME!! I can see Margaret Cho going home tonight...we'll see though. | |

| I completely agree (with pretty much everything-lol), but I was really disappointed in Margaret Cho because, like the judges said, it started out ok & she didn't have to take it to the "comedic level" at all. It wouldn't have been the best, but it certainly wouldn't have been the worst, if she'd just done a normal routine. I think she ruined it for herself. I actually think Jennifer Grey was the best, but I agree that she didn't need the pity party. Especially on her first dance. Audrina looked HOT! Damn that girl has a body! I definitely see potential in her. Bristol actually surprised me. I didn't think she was very good, but much better than I anticipated. AND, I was SHOCKED that she shook her hips! When they showed the rehearsals I though "Oh, this is going to be terrible!". I was glad for her. I don't really see her being one who will improve a whole lot. Mama Brady was hilarious when she lifted her shirt up! Florence Henderson is a funny lady & I think she will be very entertaining each week. The rag mags (websites) are dogging The Situation. US Weekly's headline is something like "Watch The Situation Bomb On DWTS". I don't think that's necessary, personally. He wasn't the best, but BY FAR he wasn't the worst! I missed Rick Fox and the Disney kid, who I heard were both good. I was pleasantly surprised by Kurt Warner. I thought he'd probably have 2 left feet. I don't know why, but I'm annoyed already by Brandy. Hopefully I warm up to her, because I'm sure she'll at least make F3. | |

| The HOFF was extremely painful to watch ... gave me the heebeegeebees! Situation wasn't that bad, especially considering the short amount of time he had to practice. I still enjoyed him. Florence Henderson just amazes me with her body at that age. God bless her! Margaret Cho was full of bafoonery. I was kind of rooting for her until she started acting like a clown. I've never found her to be funny and still don't Don't be dissin' on Baby, Lorraine! Nobody puts Baby in the corner! haha Oh c'mon how was that sickening? it was touching especially if you are like me and grew up watching Dirty Dancing over and over again. I thought Bristol was good considering she's out of her comfort zone. Brandy and Audrina also did really good. | |

| Unfortunately, my guess is that The Hoff will be around for a while. Personally, I'm not sure why, but he has a lot of fans. Just like Bristol Palin, I'm afraid that she'll stick around longer than she should, because of the people that'll vote for her b/c of her Mom. | |

| I didn't watch tonight's episode but I am thrilled the HOFF is outta here! Host Tom Bergeron wasn’t kidding when he teased how the first elimination on this season’s Dancing with the Stars would be a shocker. For more about the celebrity who got the surprise boot on Tuesday’s episode - and how it caught the producers by surprise - go to the jump.
After earning only 15 out of 30 points for dancing the cha cha cha to the band’s version of “Sex Bomb,” David Hasselhoff got the ol’ heave-ho during Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. Most of his fellow dancers were practically speechless afterwards (“It proves that anything can happen,” said a shellshocked Michael Bolton) while executive producer Conrad Green was downright bummed.
“I’m really sad to see David go,” Green told EW. “Of all of the people in the cast, it’s a real surprise for us because he is such a brilliant character. I thought his routine was really entertaining. I understand from the judges’ purist dance point-of-view, it might not have been technically the best dance. But it’s the one that made me laugh the most and I enjoyed it. Personally, I watch more for the entertainment than anything else. I like good old-fashioned entertainment shows because you never know what’s coming. From that point of view, David had one of the best dances of the night.”
Afterwards, Hasselhoff seemed to take the elimination in stride and even talked about himself in the third person when trying to explain the reason for his quick ouster. “I knew going into this that when you are David Hasselhoff and you live this larger-than-life persona, then everyone is kind of gunning for you,” he told EW. “I knew that I had to kind of get past the judges, and I did every thing I could to go on technique. Two days before (premiere night), I had it down. I was so happy because my body came around. But premiere night, it just wouldn’t work like it hoped.”
And how. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called him the offspring of “Donny Osmond and Jerry Springer” while Len Goodman said “it’s never too early to panic.” Even Bruno Tonioli wrote off his performance as “madness.” But it was Hasselhoff’s family who seemed to indicate that all was not well with their dad; one of his daughters who was sitting in the audience on Tuesday said that Hasselhoff’s knees were aching, so their pop and his partner Kym Johnson had some fessing up to do after the show.
“He was trying not to talk about it …” Johnson began to EW.
“I got a cortisone shot, had a few liters of fluid drained and some electrical shocks this morning,” Hasselhoff conceded about his knees. “So I said, if we went to the next round, I’d be good. Now I’ll just be walking good for my live show in Loughlin.” The actor-singer is performing at a casino in the Nevada resort town Sept. 22 through Sept. 26.
Though he admitted to feeling bad for Johnson, Hasselhoff is hoping that his short-term dance partner will join him on the road during one of his concerts. ”Maybe she’ll jump on stage and do Sex Bomb, which is going to be my new single in my live show. Life is a journey. I said to her tonight, `whatever happens, we breath in God, we breathe out smiles. There’s a reason for everything.’ And you know what? We had a blast. As long as you give everything you’ve got in life, there are no regrets.”
Most importantly, he doesn’t think viewers were trying to get back at him for the way he judged on America’s Got Talent, even though he made a crack about it during the show. ”You know what? I was compassionate to those kids,” he said. “The psychiatrist who they usually have backstage for those kids came up to me and said how I saved them a lot of money because I would give them encouragement and tell them to learn from this moment, use it as a springboard to move forward. If I give that message out to them, I take it for myself.”
This isn’t the last we’ll see of The Hoff. He said A&E is about to debut his reality show called The Hasselhoffs, but he’s not ready to reveal the debut date just yet. ”It’s really based on my life in Hollywood and the perception of me. Who I am is not what people know. It’s really about me and my daughters and their quest to become pop stars and how hard they have worked. It might be too soft for reality TV because it has the good and the bad, but it’s not ugly. It’s based on positive reinforcement about life and all the things that we learn. I’m very, very proud of it. It’s coming out very soon.”
