Big Brother buddies headed to Tech game, popular club

Four finalists from CBS program “Big Brother” will have some of the best views in the stadium when Texas Tech plays Oklahoma State University at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Lane Elenburg, a former Tech linebacker who was first runner-up on “Big Brother,” will present the game ball and stay on the Tech sideline, then watch the game’s second half with his three friends in the Tech chancellor’s suite.
The reality show contestants also plan to devote a number of hours to interacting with fans.
Indeed, life inside the “Big Brother” house could become a prevalent topic of conversation at Bash Riprock’s, at least during a visit by these finalists from this year’s 12th season of “Big Brother.”
The four, including winner Hayden Moss and runner-up Elenburg, will make appearances from approximately 8 p.m. until the 2 a.m. closing time on Thursday and Saturday at Bash Riprock’s, 2419 Main St.
The other two are Enzo Palumbo and the highest-ranking female contestant, Britney Haynes.
All four were members of an alliance conceived by Palumbo, with Haynes originally an alternate. It was formed during the show’s second episode. Taking the chance to trust one another, members of the alliance called themselves The Brigade.
Bash Riprock’s manager, Mike Fuqua, said that the club appearances were set up in part by Elenburg’s sister, Loren Ellenburg-Liner, who lives in Lubbock.
Fuqua said, “The four became friends while the show was being filmed, and, what I was told was that, at some point, they all agreed to visit each other’s hometowns.
“Lane is from Decatur, but he wanted to show his friends how low key and cool Lubbock is.”
The invitation from the Tech athletic department helped.
No one is being paid appearance fees by Bash Riprock’s, noted Fuqua.
He explained, “We’ll be the last stop each night. They’ll come by and just hang out.
“They’ll have their noses to the grindstone signing autographs, but there will be plenty of time for them to just bum around and play some games. And they said they also want to listen to some live music.”
The Local Nobodys will play pop cover tunes on Thursday, and the Jackson Lee Brooks Band already had been contracted to play Texas country music Saturday.
Both bands are slated to take the stage at approximately 10 p.m. There is no cover charge at Bash Riprock’s for adults, and a $5 cover is in effect for minors between the ages of 18 and 20.
Fuqua indicated that the community is helping make the appearances more fun. He explained, “White Knights Limousine is providing them with a limo on those nights. Red Raider Outfitter is giving each a gift pack of Texas Tech items. And the food both nights is being provided by Caprock Cafe.”


Since when the fuck did the Brigade include Britney as "an alternate"?? I do recall Britney self proclaiming herself as the alternate but none of the Brigade ever said she was. If anything they joked amongst each other how Kathy was the alternate and that she wasn't even aware of it. I love how history gets re-written whether it be by the fans or the houseguests themselves. Also I know for a fact they WERE paid for this event and it's bullshit that Matt didn't at least get invited to go and at the very least make some money off this shit since he didn't make a damn dime and if it weren't for him I wonder how far any of these 4 actually would have gone in the game. Just playing Devile advocate here but it it possible that Matt doesnt want anything to do with these events. So far he has stayed clear of any BB/reality stuff.

As far as Brit being the Alternate..agree 100% she is the self-proclaimed alternate. The Brigade actually named Kathy as the alternate.

Matt was never even asked to go to Va and he was not invited to go to this paid appearance in Texas that is being touted as a Brigade appearance. Which wouldn't it be nice for them to at the very least invite Matt since if it weren't for Matt, you have to wonder how far they would have lasted themselves. Not to mention it's a paid appearance which Hayden, Lane and Britney had all won money on the show. Matt didn't win shit maybe a paid appearance would be nice since he did help them.

Elenburg, a Texas Tech football player from 2005 to 2007, earned second-place cash on “Big Brother” after agreeing to join an alliance with fellow members Enzo Palumbo, Matt Hoffman and (eventual winner) Hayden Moss.
Since then, he has allied himself with an organization that handles all of the better known reality show contestants, from “American Idol” to “Big Brother” and any other that comes to mind. That’s what has been keeping Elenburg busy; he makes appearances at benefits across the country on practically every weekend.
This weekend, however, he made a personal choice.
Someone at Tech’s athletic department noticed that Elenburg was wearing something with the Tech Double-T on practically every episode of “Big Brother.” He received a formal invitation from Tech to attend Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. football game pitting Tech’s Red Raiders against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Actually, he will be doing a bit more than that.
Elenburg will be introduced as he presents the game ball at midfield, and stay on the Tech sideline; he will enjoy the game’s second half with three friends — fellow Big Brother contestants Palumbo, Moss and Britney Haynes — from a vantage point inside Tech Chancellor Kent Hance’s suite.
The reality show contestants also will interact with fans. All four will make appearances from approximately 8 p.m. until just before 2 a.m. tonight and Saturday at Bash Riprock’s, 2419 Main St.
Winners Moss and Elenburg were members of a four-man alliance conceived by Palumbo.
Haynes was invited to travel with them; the fourth alliance member, Matt Hoffman, was voted off.
The alliance was formed during the show’s second episode. Taking a risk in trusting one another, members of the alliance quickly began calling themselves The Brigade.
Elenburg, who turned 25 on Oct. 10, told The A-J that he loved playing for coach Mike Leach. He said, “Obviously, the man is a genius football coach, and I loved every minute I played for him.
“I wasn’t here during his ordeal, though.”
During the show, Brigade members agreed to visit each other’s hometowns.
“This weekend is the first,” said Elenburg, who actually is from Decatur, but said he wants to show friends where he played football and hung out in Lubbock.
Most weekends find him “shaking hands and signing pictures. Sometimes it is a big benefit, and sometimes they want us to show up at parties and just sort of hang around. Like next week we’re in Houston, and the week after that in Las Vegas for something.”
Elenburg said that he was not even able to tell his family he had been cast in “Big Brother” until “the day I left for Los Angeles.”
He missed watching sports, but the house guests were entirely isolated: no televisions, no telephones of any kind, no radios, newspapers or magazines.
Staying there for 75 days demanded will power. Elenburg recalled, “It was absolute hell inside that house. You had to be constantly alert. You know that everyone is lying to you. And whatever you tell one person, he or she is going to repeat it to others.
“I was stressed out every second. It is one big, long mental game.”
Elenburg’s sister, Loren Elenburg-Liner, made the connections with Mike Fuqua, who manages Bash Riprock’s, a club popular with the Tech crowd for more than 20 years.
He said that the four guests plan to sign autographs. “There also will be plenty of time for them to just bum around and play some games. And they said they want to listen to some live music.”

Matt said in Enzo's chat that he can't get off work to go to alot of these things. He said this when I asked him if he was going to the Reality Awards when they get their award and he said no.

I find it ironic that one of the Brigade made some crack about Matt and Ragan doing their "Brokeback Mountain" thing yet the photo shoot that Lane and Hayden did looks VERY Brokeback Mountain to me. Big Brother 8 was first going to air that summer....funny how Hayden and Lane probably didn't know about the show at that time! It's nice to see the group still hanging out and that they are making the time to still see each other after being out of the house one month from today!!

I honestly think Matt prefers the company and friendship of Ragan over the other Brigade members. Although it was just a game, I just don't see any bond that Matt has with any of the Brigade members since the show ended. And I agree with Keisha that there is no Brigade WITHOUT Matt!
