Rod Blagojevich on reality TV? This I have to see.

Okay, so we expected to see the Dennis Rodmans and the Chynas of the world join the cast of NBC's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, the Survivor-like reality series that pits ten celebs in a Costa Rican jungle. But Rod Blagojevich? We knew the guy was a little trashy, since he, you know, allegedly tried to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat. But who would have thought the disgraced Illinois governor would have reality show ambitions?

Appearing on Celebrity might be a step down for Blago's resume, but I'm guessing the move will be an epic win for NBC, especially since the show premiered on ABC in 2003 to little fanfare. (After all, millions of viewers already tune in to watch Blago, a.k.a Mayor Quimby, on The Simpsons, so who's saying this will be any different?) Is it unsettling, though, to see politics and reality TV mix? A little, I admit. But I, for one, could not be happier with this news. The guy has zero chance of jumpstarting his political career once again, so why not send him into a jungle with a series of has-beens? Better yet, instead of jail time, why not make Blago stay down in Costa Rica with Z-list celebs for the duration of his pending sentence? I'd say a few days with the Verne Troyers of the world is worse than several years in the penitentiary.

Heidi and Spencer cast on NBC’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here

The Hills’ resident villains Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have a new reality show coming: NBC’s revival of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
They have been cast on the show, which takes celebrities and puts them into a pseudo-Survivor environment to participate in challenges, their rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.
That makes them the first two people to be officially on board. NBC has cast Rod Blagojevich on the show, but a judge will first have to permit him to travel to Costa Rica to film the series this summer, as it will air live from June 1 to 24.

shouldnt the title of this be "I'm a 'cough' Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here"?

Too funny, isn't this exactly what we have been saying regarding the "celebrities" appearing on these shows? (see my above comment...lol)




These are celebrities? Get out of here
At some point in the last several years, the word 'celebrity' has taken on a very, very loose meaning. Case in point: the recent casting announcements for the upcoming NBC adaptation of the British hit I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here. The premise has more intrigue than average for yet another reality show that's set to invade the airwaves and the water cooler. These alleged celebrities are sent to the jungles of Costa Rica and stripped of their pampered luxuries. Call it a watered-down version of Survivor where these increasingly D-list stars must compete with each other in order to earn amenities and a longer stint on the island (and therefore in the press).

This would be an interesting cultural experiment if the contestants were legitimately celebrites who we'd enjoy watch suffer without their Blackberrys, manicures and Manohlos. Instead we're going to be forced to watch former reality contestants from years ago, no-longer-relevant 'journalists' and overexposed nobodies fight to further increase their fifteen minutes. So who is this motley crew that NBC is trying to pass off as celebrities? Today's announcement of American Idol's Sanjaya Malakar follows the castings of Dog the Bounty Hunter, Geraldo Rivera, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Janice Dickinson and, disgustingly, Rod Blagojevich, needing court approval to appear.

Now call me old fashioned, but I thought celebrities were people who become household names thanks to their talent or noteworthy accomplishments. They're typically actors, athletes or musicians who have made some sort of worthwhile contribution to pop culture that warrants a certain amount of notoriety. And we unworthy plebians don't mind that these select few people lead lavish lives because, well, they deserve it. But don't try to tell me that American Idol's creepiest contestant ever is one of those select few. Or that Rod Blagojevich should be making me jealous by leading a life of the rich and famous. It's insulting.

From Celebrity Apprentice to Celebrity Fit Club to Celebrity Mole, how much more of these tired reality shows featuring 'celebrities' who are only mildly famous for appearing on other tired reality shows can we take? Call me when one of these reality nightmares get Denis Leary (how I love him) or Miley Cyrus (how I don't) sign up. Then I'm on board.

Well don't sign me up for Miley Cyrus but overall on the article! Also, at Sanjaya being on the show......I have to admit, this cast is interesting and I will be tuning in

The ad in the beginning is really loud and then when Sanjaya starts talking you can barely hear him...sheesh.

Reality TV Stars Charged for Cooking Rats

Two contestants in the ninth series of reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here are being charged for animal cruelty after they have killed, cooked and ate rats to improve their meals.
Series winner chef Gino D’Acampo (right picture) and fellow contestant Stuart Manning (left picture) are expected to appear in court in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia, on February 3. Once convicted, they will face an imprisonment of three years and pay penalty of 2,000 Australian Dollars.
Fellow contestant George Hamilton claimed that they have asked the show’s crew if they can eat rats. The crew said yes. Unfortunately, rats are one of the animals that the show has no approval to slaughter. The show has been approved to let contestants eat invertebrates but killing and eating animals not bred for food are not included in the list.
D’Acampo and his group had decided to kill the rats that they had seen running around to improve the group’s meal of rice and beans. The rat would add protein to the meal.

I think I would have stuck with the rice and beans myself.
