The 'Jersey Shore' Backsplash
Appalling some and delighting others "Jersey Shore" created the kind of buzz MTV hasn't had since the heyday of "The Hills" (which slunk away at the end of the season last week with few noticing). But the new show's celebration of musclebound, fist-pumpin' self-stereotyping "guidos" and the strangely reserved women who share their summer house (except for one wild child seen as an outcast) has its detractors as well. Domino's Pizza said Friday it would pull its advertising for the show, which premiered Thursday with a two hour episode that drew 1.3 million viewers. "Once we saw what the program was, we decided that the content wasn't in keeping with what we're all about," a Domino's spokesman told TVGuide.com. There was also a complaint from the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau: "MTV is providing a one-dimensional, dramatized version of a very small group of visitors' summer experiences in one Jersey Shore town., said the group's executive director, Daniel Cappello. "We have many spectacular ocean and bay beaches in Monmouth and Ocean County, from the Atlantic Highlands down to Long Beach Island, and countless choices for people of all ages and walks of life to enjoy year round." He did not address the shore's apparent shortages of petroleum based products, compelling visitors to bring in trunkloads of their own hair gel.

really Kristen?
'The Hills' Star Kristin Cavallari"Jealous" of 'Jersey Shore', But "Loves" Watching Anyway We thought Kristin Cavallari already offered up the drama on a shiny silver plate for The Hills, but apparently she believes it's not enough. She can't seem to top those kids from Jersey Shore on her own, despite the intricately shallow web she's weaved on her own MTV show.
Talking to Us Magazine, the 23-year-old Kristin Cavallari revealed that she's felt the green-eyed monster clawing at her every time she sees Jersey Shore. It's actually like one of those romances featured on The Hills, especially because the series' star can't help but love getting involved.
"I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of jealous," Cavallari declared. She was asked about the new MTV hit during her birthday party at Beso in Las Vegas. Hearing about the ratings of Jersey Shore and the drop in viewership for The Hills, it really must've hurt.
But instead of showing her resentment, Kristin admitted that even she's guilty of tuning in to the Jersey Shore drama. "I love it," she told People magazine. "Is that bad that I love it?"
She even noted her favorite character on the new series, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. "He's the best," she said.
While there might be several people who'd accuse Cavallari of using Jersey Shore to promote her own show, there's the fact that she just truly enjoys watching it. She even thought up a nickname for herself if ever she gets the chance to pop up on that reality series.
Kristin Cavallari told the publication that "the straight-up gangster" would befit her. Still, she's far too committed to The Hills to bother making the switch. Being the bad girl and having the spotlight on her there is a bigger accomplishment for her.
"I have a good time with it," Cavallari said about her role. "I can't sit here and stress about my image on The Hills. I'd drive myself crazy. I prefer to be the bad girl and have fun with it."

Everyone on Jersey Shore is so much more likeable then any of those on The Hills. Of course she's jealous.

and here we go...this is the stuff (if true) that drives me nuts! Don't they realize that they are EASILY replaced by 6 or 7 other Guido's or Guido-ettes? There is nothing special about them, just that they were on a reality show and most of them were a trainwreck and we loved to watch. Guarentee that if they picked 6 other orange fist pumping drunken idiots...we would still watch. Its just like 'The Real World" Italian style...lol.
Jersey Shore Cast Demanding Salary Increase
.
Are they worth it?
Sure the Jersey Shore cast had an amazingly awesome first season, but can they do it again in season 2? They're asking for a salary ten times as much as they made for the first season. It sounds like they're getting just a little bit greedy. If the Jersey Shore cast keeps up these antics, we just might see a whole new cast of guidos and guidettes come season 2 of the Jersey Shore. After all, the show was entertaining, but it doesn't really take much talent to get drunk, hook up, and party non-stop for a couple months straight. Not to mention, can these kids really do it all over again and keep us entertained in season 2? They seem to think they can because the Jersey Shore cast is demanding $10,000 an episode from MTV. In the first season, they made only a couple hundred per episode, but now they clearly think they deserve more. And while they probably do deserve a higher salary, isn't $10,000/episode pretty lofty? According to a source, "They want $10,000 an episode, arguing that the stars from The Hills get $100,000 per episode and that show doesn't even rate as high. They're hanging together like the cast of Friends and saying if they don't all get the pay increase, none of them will return." However, it seems that Jersey Shore is more of a fad, while The Hills actually had staying power (at least for a little while). Will MTV really be all that upset if they don't return? It might be kind of fun to see a whole new cast. After all, how much more trouble can these kids get into? Not to mention, I'm sure this won't be the last we'll be seeing of the kids from season 1. They're already making lots of money from television appearances and at least a couple of them are likely to land reality shows or something of that nature. I'm sure Snooki and The Situation will not be disappearing any time soon.

Are they worth it... is all relative. In the real grand scheme of things of course they aren't worth it but if MTV can give the losers of The Hills 100k + salaries an episode then I think they could afford to give the Jersey Shore crew the amounts their asking for. If anything it should make them re-evaluate what they pay the idiots on The Hills or worse The City.

'Jersey Shore' salary smackdown: Two go creepin'
By Jethro Nededog | January 28, 2010 8:44 AM Just days after "Jersey Shore's" Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said the cast is sticking to their "Friends-style" salary negotiations for Season 2, it seems two members have gone creepin'.
TMZ reports that Jenni "J-WOWW" Farley and Ronnie Magro have split from the group and accepted MTV's offer.
(Hmm, isn't it strange that Ronnie's girlfriend, Sammi, isn't mentioned here? Is there more than one split going on?)
In our readers' poll asking, "Who do you most want to see back at 'The Shore' in season 2?," Ronnie surprisingly came in first place with 29% of the vote, while J-WOWW came in last with 4%.
Reports say that MTV has offered the crew a $10,000 signing bonus and $10,000 per episode. While earlier reports stated that the network was giving the cast until end-of-business on Monday (Jan. 25) to accept the offer or be replaced, the negotiations have continued.
An MTV representative tells Zap2it that they can't comment at this time, but they will alert us when a statement is prepared. Stay tuned.

The cast of MTV's breakout hit, Jersey Shore, will film a second season. The network announced late Friday that they have ordered 12 episodes that will begin airing this summer.

I think it's good all of them are coming back, but why Angelina? I don't think she should be allowed to come back and pony off the success of their show since she quit it early on and most importantly because she was extremely annoying.

"Jersey Shore" alleged cast member Angelina is far from being a sure thing for Season 2 -- even though she says she signed a new contract.
Sources involved in the negotiation tell TMZ that the contract Angelina signed is actually a holding deal -- meaning she's agreed to appear on the show, but MTV still has an option to exercise the contract -- or not.
Translation -- Angelina received a holding fee, but MTV can decide down the line whether they want her on the show. If they don't, Angelina will walk away with her holding money -- and that's it.
MTV -- smartly we might add -- is hedging its bet as they map out Season 2 production. The network might be interested in our TMZ poll -- 87% of our readers say they don't want Angelina back.

I agree. It doesn't make sense why they would want to pay her what they're paying the others when it worked just fine without her. I still think MTV should cancel The Hills and The City being that a show like this has blown both of those shows out of the water and could save a hell of a lot of money.

The Situation Proclaims Self King of Reality TV
The Jersey Shore cast negotiated for Season 2 in all-for-one, one-for-all style, each asking for the same amount and selling themselves as a package deal.
Just the same, Mike Sorrentino is clearly one of the bigger stars. He made a name for himself, quite literally, as "The Situation" from the very first episode.
The Sitch recently sat down with TV Guide to discuss his all-natural physique, clubbin', creepin', future plans and so much more. Some excerpts below:
On Jersey Shore being real: Nothing was planned. Everybody's friends on the show and that's why it's real. We're actually very close in real life.
On staying in sometimes: You can't go out every night because every night you're not really prepared to look that good — it takes a little toll on you.
On rumors that he's on steroids: No way. I'm 100 percent natural. I just have very good genetics. I've had a six-pack ever since I was little.
On tension with Ronnie and Sammi: Me and [Ronnie] are friends but Sam is his girl. There's always going to be tension. I mean, we are friends first, but that's my good friend and that's his girl, and I hooked up with his girl first.
On their status: I think they got back together but recently broke up again. Their relationship is really none of my business; my business is The Situation.
On the ladies: Right now I take life moment by moment. I'm not worried about girls. I'm focused on my career, but if I see something I like, I'll grab it up.
On being on top: Right now I'm just taking over the reality world on this first season so I guess you could say I'm like the reality king. After that, maybe one or two more seasons max - once you're on top, you graduate to the next level.
With The Situation quotes like that, how can you not be counting down the days until the show's wilder, crazier new season - wherever it may take place?
The gang taking Miami is the current, and most logical rumor.

Jersey Shore’s Snooki Flips Philly The Middle Finger After Getting Booed
Jersey Shore’s Snooki flips Philly the middle finger after getting booed. According to TMZ, Snooki (real name Nicole Polizzi) who is one of the stars of MTV’s new, hit, reality show “Jersey Shore” was spotted flipping Philadelphia the middle finger earlier this morning after they apparently unleashed a “boo fest” on her. They say Snooki went to a chicken wing eating contest in Philadelphia this morning, but haters started booing her,and Snooki promptly told the whole city to “F” off by flipping them the bird. The whole incident went down at a place called the Wing Bowl, and was captured on video (below). In other “Jersey Shore” news, they recently signed a contract renewal with MTV to do a 2nd season of the popular “Jersey Shore” reality show for $10,000 an episode. It’s supposed to be a 12 episode season. Also, Angelina ‘Jolie’ Pivarnick who bailed on the cast in the first season after the 2nd episode,is reportedly rejoining the cast for the 2nd season. It may or may not happen, though. It’s up to MTV,but she wants to come back, and claims she’s signed a contract already.

what a surprise he wants to be apart of season 2...didn't see that one coming!
Just a month ago, Snooki told PEOPLE that she was looking for love. Well, it seems she got her wish: Just a week or so ago, the Jersey Shore breakout star started dating 21-year-old Emilio Masella, a personal trainer at the Gold’s Gym in New Haven, Conn. “We met on Facebook over a year ago,” Masella tells PEOPLE exclusively. “We started talking online again before the show even started airing and started hanging out again.” Just a few days ago, Masella said he and Snooki (real name: Nicole Polizzi), 22, began dating exclusively. “We have a lot in common,” he says. “I think our features… It’s really weird but we do [look alike]. It’s cute though!” In their spare time, the couple goes to parties and clubs for her official appearances, but, “When she’s not working, we watch movies and relax so she can be normal for once. … We wanted to go see Dear John but we didn’t have time!” And that’s how Masella prefers it. Though he’s OK with the amount of attention his famous girlfriend gets, he admits that “after awhile, it does get annoying, but it’s all right — it’s kind of expected.” Despite all the fame and flashbulbs that surround Snooki, Masella says he likes her for who she is — not the character portrayed on the MTV reality show. “Honestly, I think that what they show on the show, that’s not really her,” he says. “She’s actually really sweet and down-to-earth but the show makes her look like she’s a crazy party girl. It doesn’t show her other side.” “She really just speaks what on her mind — she tells it how it is, which is nice,” he adds. Plus, “She talks to me for me, a lot of girls hit on me for how I look, but she actually got to know me.” Masella also says that while he’s just now begun calling her his “girlfriend,” he’s already met her parents (yup, dad approves!) and the two have already discussed Masella possibly appearing on season two of Jersey Shore. “She already told me she wants me to,” he says. “I would want to see her — being away for a month, that’s kind of a long time. I definitely would want to go see her.”

Reality TV Feud Alert: Kim Kardashian and J-Woww?
--Don't look for a K-Woww pairing on reality TV any time soon. Jersey Shore's Jenni "J-Woww" Farley is snagging male attention away from Kim Kardashian. Case in point? J-Woww admirers took so much time to oogle her at Kim's recent NYC fashion show that Kim refused to pose for photos with her reality TV peer.

'Jersey Shore's' big brains take on Jay Leno
Not even the cast of "Jersey Shore" can make Jay Leno funny.
Last night, the re-vivified "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" spent six long minutes trying to wring laughs from MTV's Guidos and Guidettes in a Jeopardy-like "Battle of the Celebrity All-Stars" segment:
can't watch at work? Here's what you're missing.
-- Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi (the one with the big hair bump) is unable to complete this book title: "Catcher in the _____." (Her reply: "closet.")
-- Muscle-bound brawler Ronnie Ortiz-Magro names Puerto Rico as the country's 50th state.
-- Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola isn't able to answer any questions, but damn if her hair extensions don't look perfect.
-- Ronnie incorrectly identifies Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown's nude Cosmo spread as a young Jay Leno.
Only Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino appears to possess a brain not fake-tanned into catatonia, correctly identifying a photo of Fed chairman Ben Bernanke.
And after spoofing themselves everywhere from FunnyorDie.com to "Lopez Tonight," the "Jersey Shore" cast is kind of played out anyway.
Interestingly, David Letterman's Wednesday night guests included Jerry Seinfeld, whose "Marriage Ref" took over Leno's former 10 p.m. slot on NBC.
