I don't know what everyone thinks, but in my opinion this is probably the WORST top 12 that AI has ever seen. Good luck crowning an Idol out of this crew although I could possibly see Crystal or Michael winning this thing. Also, I can't argue with who went home but to me, Todrick Hall and Katelyn Epperly should have stayed over some others that were left behind. Alex Lambert made me cringe when he sang on Wednesday and sounded painfully nasally. Lilly Scott was consistently off key and I could really find no good reason for why she was pimped by the judges so at least the voters aren't falling for their crap this year...at least not yet. All and all, this is sure to be one big giant snooze fest.

'American Idol' season 9 top 12: Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott, Todrick
Hall and Katelyn Epperly get cut

'American Idol's' top 12 of season 9 were
announced Thursday and the axe given to (clockwise from top l.) Katelyn
Epperly, Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott and Todrick Hall. WATCH Lambert get
cut below.

It turns out Alex Lambert was an overly ripe banana, Todrick Hall was more dancer than singer, Lilly
Scott
was too "(500) Days of Summer" cute and Katelyn Epperly never really got her due.
"American Idol's" top 12 was announced Thursday
and singing talent turned out to the biggest casualty of the night.
The axe fell after the top 16 opened the show with a rendition of Michael Buble's "I Just Haven't Met You Yet."
Katelyn Epperly was the first to leave and perhaps the least
surprising cut. The diva with the curly blonde locks always demonstrated
the right amount of vocal chops but never really stood out from the
crowd.
Next under the guillotine were two of the guys: Todrick Hall and Alex
Lambert.
Despite their early shortcomings, Hall and Lambert had emerged as
strong contenders this week. Hall's version of Queens' "Somebody to Love
Me" may have been overly theatrical, but the judges agreed that his
vocal talent was undeniable.
Regardless, Hall didn't take it as badly as Lambert. The
mullet-loving kid with the dimples and a crippling case of stage fright
broke down after he was ousted.
"I wish I could have just broken out of my shell," he told the
audience as Ellen DeGeneres (who had previously called
him a "banana" referring to his uncanny ability to ripen quickly)
attempted to console him.
A brief solace in the midst of the show was provided by last season's
Scott MacIntyre and Matt
Giraud
, who performed "Tell Her About It."
Then came the most surprising axe of the night: Lilly Scott.
The bleached blonde songstress was considered one of the lead contenders
early on in the competition. Before Crystal Bowersox elbowed her way to the top with her Janis Joplin-esque stylings and hot dreads, Scott's indie
rock outfits and vocals won the judges over.
The four spots in the top 12 that should have arguably belonged to
Scott, Lambert, Hall and Epperly were instead given to: 16-year-old
pseudo-country singer Aaron Kelly; pretty boy Tim
Urban
, whose only good performance came just in time with this
week's "Hallelujah"; forgettable 16-year-old Connecticut-born singer Katie Stevens; and Paige
Miles
, despite her universally panned dour rendition of "Smile."
Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus, Didi
Benami
, Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche, Casey
James
, Andrew Garcia, Lacey
Brown
, Tim Urban, Aaron Kelly, Paige Miles, and Katie Stevens will
rock the Rolling Stones songbook next week.

I don't know, it just doesn't get any worse than this...does it? AI: Top 12 33209
This just CAN'T be good.

“American Idol” Set to Tackle Songs By the Rolling Stones

Two years ago American Idol celebrated the music of the Fab Four, and next week the show’s Top 12 will pick up that rockin’ tradition by belting out songs by “the Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World,” the Rolling Stones. Host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement of next week’s musical theme on a radio promotion taped during last night’s episode, Entertainment Weeky reports. As it’s still too early on in the competition for celebrity mentors, it’s highly unlikely Mick Jagger or Keith Richards will participate, though Richards mentoring the kids on partying and excess for an hour would likely be more entertaining than the performances themselves.
We won’t know which contestants are singing what Stones classics until next week, but we’re already placing bets on what we expect to hear. On the ladies’ side, we anticipate “Satisfaction,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Time is on My Side,” “Gimme Shelter” (if a contestant is brazen enough to handle both Mick and the female leads) and, thanks to Susan Boyle, “Wild Horses.” For the men, we’re thinking “Brown Sugar,” “Miss You,” Sympathy for the Devil,” “Angie,” “Honky Tonk Woman” and “Waiting on a Friend.” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” seems destined for the group performance, and let’s just add that any contestant who mines Goats Head Soup gets our automatic vote.

I think Big Mike is really just a cooler version of Ruben Studdard, I don't see him as being relevant once the season ends.

Didi Benami - sang ok but nothing special to me.

Casey James is boring.

Lacey Brown - she sang Ruby Tuesday good but nothing earth shattering.

Andrew Garcia - He has been all hype since he sang Paula's Straight Up song but since then he hasn't impressed me at all. Maybe his dad is right and he could still wind up being a custodian.

Katie Stevens - just annoys me. I don't like this kid at all, and go figure the judges praised her very boring performance.

Tim Urban may not be the best singer but at least he's trying. More than I can say for some of them.

Siobhan Magnus - Loved her performance, she had one of the better Stones song sang tonight and she deserved the pimp slot for it! Bravo!

Lee Dewyze - I like him, he sounded good but needs more star quality.

Paige Miles - she sang good considering she has laryngitis but I don't see her lasting much longer.

Aaron Kelly - ugh...this kid is so annoying, I just can't even bare to sit through an entire performance of him.

Crystal Bowersox - she sounded good as usual and I really am annoyed with Kara on insinuating that she has an attitude like she has this competition. Kara is a fucking idiot, just because the judges blow her up don't then the next week transfer how they feel about her onto her. Kara has been getting on my last nerve the past couple of weeks. Good for Crystal to say she hasn't felt like she has the comp in the bag.

My top 3 - Siobhan, Crystal and Lee
My bottom 3 - Aaron, Katie and Andrew
Who I think will be going home - Paige

Best performance tonight -
