I actually have watched this. It has potential but so far the cast is a bit much. All of them are in love......with THEMSELVES! lol

The 'Jersey Shore' Backsplash
Appalling some and delighting others "Jersey Shore" created the kind of buzz MTV hasn't had since the heyday of "The Hills" (which slunk away at the end of the season last week with few noticing). But the new show's celebration of musclebound, fist-pumpin' self-stereotyping "guidos" and the strangely reserved women who share their summer house (except for one wild child seen as an outcast) has its detractors as well. Domino's Pizza said Friday it would pull its advertising for the show, which premiered Thursday with a two hour episode that drew 1.3 million viewers. "Once we saw what the program was, we decided that the content wasn't in keeping with what we're all about," a Domino's spokesman told TVGuide.com. There was also a complaint from the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau: "MTV is providing a one-dimensional, dramatized version of a very small group of visitors' summer experiences in one Jersey Shore town., said the group's executive director, Daniel Cappello. "We have many spectacular ocean and bay beaches in Monmouth and Ocean County, from the Atlantic Highlands down to Long Beach Island, and countless choices for people of all ages and walks of life to enjoy year round." He did not address the shore's apparent shortages of petroleum based products, compelling visitors to bring in trunkloads of their own hair gel.

really Kristen?
'The Hills' Star Kristin Cavallari"Jealous" of 'Jersey Shore', But "Loves" Watching Anyway We thought Kristin Cavallari already offered up the drama on a shiny silver plate for The Hills, but apparently she believes it's not enough. She can't seem to top those kids from Jersey Shore on her own, despite the intricately shallow web she's weaved on her own MTV show.
Talking to Us Magazine, the 23-year-old Kristin Cavallari revealed that she's felt the green-eyed monster clawing at her every time she sees Jersey Shore. It's actually like one of those romances featured on The Hills, especially because the series' star can't help but love getting involved.
"I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of jealous," Cavallari declared. She was asked about the new MTV hit during her birthday party at Beso in Las Vegas. Hearing about the ratings of Jersey Shore and the drop in viewership for The Hills, it really must've hurt.
But instead of showing her resentment, Kristin admitted that even she's guilty of tuning in to the Jersey Shore drama. "I love it," she told People magazine. "Is that bad that I love it?"
She even noted her favorite character on the new series, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. "He's the best," she said.
While there might be several people who'd accuse Cavallari of using Jersey Shore to promote her own show, there's the fact that she just truly enjoys watching it. She even thought up a nickname for herself if ever she gets the chance to pop up on that reality series.
Kristin Cavallari told the publication that "the straight-up gangster" would befit her. Still, she's far too committed to The Hills to bother making the switch. Being the bad girl and having the spotlight on her there is a bigger accomplishment for her.
"I have a good time with it," Cavallari said about her role. "I can't sit here and stress about my image on The Hills. I'd drive myself crazy. I prefer to be the bad girl and have fun with it."

Everyone on Jersey Shore is so much more likeable then any of those on The Hills. Of course she's jealous.

Not to mention the higher ratings that Jersey shore is getting. Hard to believe that its getting higher ratings than the Hills...

and here we go...this is the stuff (if true) that drives me nuts! Don't they realize that they are EASILY replaced by 6 or 7 other Guido's or Guido-ettes? There is nothing special about them, just that they were on a reality show and most of them were a trainwreck and we loved to watch. Guarentee that if they picked 6 other orange fist pumping drunken idiots...we would still watch. Its just like 'The Real World" Italian style...lol.
Jersey Shore Cast Demanding Salary Increase
.
Are they worth it?
Sure the Jersey Shore cast had an amazingly awesome first season, but can they do it again in season 2? They're asking for a salary ten times as much as they made for the first season. It sounds like they're getting just a little bit greedy. If the Jersey Shore cast keeps up these antics, we just might see a whole new cast of guidos and guidettes come season 2 of the Jersey Shore. After all, the show was entertaining, but it doesn't really take much talent to get drunk, hook up, and party non-stop for a couple months straight. Not to mention, can these kids really do it all over again and keep us entertained in season 2? They seem to think they can because the Jersey Shore cast is demanding $10,000 an episode from MTV. In the first season, they made only a couple hundred per episode, but now they clearly think they deserve more. And while they probably do deserve a higher salary, isn't $10,000/episode pretty lofty? According to a source, "They want $10,000 an episode, arguing that the stars from The Hills get $100,000 per episode and that show doesn't even rate as high. They're hanging together like the cast of Friends and saying if they don't all get the pay increase, none of them will return." However, it seems that Jersey Shore is more of a fad, while The Hills actually had staying power (at least for a little while). Will MTV really be all that upset if they don't return? It might be kind of fun to see a whole new cast. After all, how much more trouble can these kids get into? Not to mention, I'm sure this won't be the last we'll be seeing of the kids from season 1. They're already making lots of money from television appearances and at least a couple of them are likely to land reality shows or something of that nature. I'm sure Snooki and The Situation will not be disappearing any time soon.

Are they worth it... is all relative. In the real grand scheme of things of course they aren't worth it but if MTV can give the losers of The Hills 100k + salaries an episode then I think they could afford to give the Jersey Shore crew the amounts their asking for. If anything it should make them re-evaluate what they pay the idiots on The Hills or worse The City.

'Jersey Shore' salary smackdown: Two go creepin'
By Jethro Nededog | January 28, 2010 8:44 AM Just days after "Jersey Shore's" Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said the cast is sticking to their "Friends-style" salary negotiations for Season 2, it seems two members have gone creepin'.
TMZ reports that Jenni "J-WOWW" Farley and Ronnie Magro have split from the group and accepted MTV's offer.
(Hmm, isn't it strange that Ronnie's girlfriend, Sammi, isn't mentioned here? Is there more than one split going on?)
In our readers' poll asking, "Who do you most want to see back at 'The Shore' in season 2?," Ronnie surprisingly came in first place with 29% of the vote, while J-WOWW came in last with 4%.
Reports say that MTV has offered the crew a $10,000 signing bonus and $10,000 per episode. While earlier reports stated that the network was giving the cast until end-of-business on Monday (Jan. 25) to accept the offer or be replaced, the negotiations have continued.
An MTV representative tells Zap2it that they can't comment at this time, but they will alert us when a statement is prepared. Stay tuned.
