Ethan Zohn, ‘Survivor’ winner, says cancer has returned

By Sarah Anne Hughes

Ethan Zohn
(Evan Agostini - AP)
Ethan Zohn’s cancer has returned, the “Survivor” winner confirmed to People.

“I was just angry,” the 37-year-old told the magazine. “I was scared that I was going to die.”

Zohn was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2009 and underwent a stem cell transplant, according to the Associated Press. Cancer was discovered in his chest last month, and he’s now undergoing chemotherapy.

“I think in the cancer world, the general perception is that there
are winners and losers,” he told People. “You either beat cancer and you
win – or you don't and you die. But the reality of it is, I did
everything in my power to beat cancer, and I did. But it came back. And
that's okay, too.”

Zohn said he is still living a “fulfilled life” and is training for the New York City Marathon.

Former “Survivor” winner and fan favorite Ethan Zohn had become a
survivor not only on the show, but also from battling Hodgkin’s
lymphoma. However, People is reporting that Zohn’s cancer has returned.

According to People, Zohn learned of his relapse September 14. Zohn
said to People that the cancer is in his lung area. The good thing about
where the cancer is located is that it’s at least not all over his body, he said.

He also said that Jenna Morasca, his girlfriend of eight years and
also a winner of “Survivor,” has been taking the news in stride. “She’s
taking it like the rock star that she is,” he said, further explaining
how when dealing with cancer, emotions can run the gamut.

Zohn began chemotherapy and is planning on undergoing a stem-cell transplant from one of his brothers. Even with the scary
prospects cancer can present, Zohn is expecting on being able to run in
the New York City Marathon November 6. He told people that the doctors
gave him the okay to participate, even though they think he’s crazy.
“Cancer isn’t going to slow me down,” he said. “I want people to know
that you can still live a fulfilled life and move forward.”

Inside Ethan Zohn's Emotional N.Y.C. Marathon Run to Crush Cancer

By Julie Jordan

Monday November 07, 2011 09:15 AM EST

Running the New York City Marathon on Sunday, former Survivor
winner Ethan Zohn spotted his girlfriend of eight years, Jenna Morasca,
cheering him on outside of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,
where he has spent countless hours battling his Hodgkin's lymphoma.

"I jogged over to her and gave her a big giant hug. And there may have been some tears shed," says Zohn, 37.

Calling it "a really emotional moment," Morasca adds: "It was
just an overwhelming sense of pride on my side and for him, just a
feeling of being supported. There were a lot of emotions packed into
that one hug."

That support carried Zohn through the last eight miles of the race, when he really began to feel the wear on his body.

"My quads were burning, my hamstrings felt like they were about
to rip off," he says. "But I knew with every step I was crushing little
cancer cells on the road. I even wrote 'f--k canzer' on the bottom of my
shoes. That's what kept me going."

Rounding each corner, Zohn was met by thunderous cheers from
fans. "Literally it was like walking into a surprise party that was
organized just for me. 'Go Ethan! Keep running! Outrun cancer!' It was
really an incredible experience," he says.

"Everyone in New York City came out to support so many people.
Everything was happy, everything was positive, and you don't see that
that often."

Zohn finished the race in 4:20:46, and Morasca was waiting for
him at the finish line. "She was right there, by my side, as always,"
says Zohn. "I gave her a big fat hug and a big sweaty kiss and it was
worth every second of it."

Morasca insists the moment was bigger than the both of them. "I
was just so happy to see him. There's nothing he could ever do that
could make me feel like he's any stronger because he's already
accomplished so much," she says. "I never have any doubt that he's going
to overcome any obstacles he's presented with."

And with his second marathon now under his belt, Zohn will
undergo his next chemo treatment on Tuesday. "I'm not thinking about it,
I don't want to. Jenna and I just look at it as another check-up and
I'll get a little infusion," he says.

"Right now, I feel incredible. Finishing the marathon gave me
more confidence and strength. It really felt like all of New York was
cheering for me today. And I am going to get through this."

Such an inspiration! One of the strongest men around. I have so much respect for him! He has done so much good in the world and has karma on his side. If anyone could beat cancer multiple times, it's Ethan!

when he got some welcome news from his doctor.

I got this off of Rob Cesternino's website.
What's important to know is that not only is Ethan going to be in the hospital for the next couple of weeks but he is also going to be in isolation for a couple of weeks. Which you can only imagine sucks to say the least. He is such a fighter and if you'd like to send him well wishes below is the address.
