I thought I would start a thread regarding Simons replacement as there seems to be a lot of contenders, a lot of wannabe's and a lot of rumors. Here is the latest wannabe...its not going to happen for him though.



Clay Aiken thinks he could fill Cowell's 'Idol' seat

Add “American Idol” alum Clay Aiken to the long list of celebrities who think they should replace Simon Cowell on Fox’s hit singing competition.

In a new interview with Billboard.com, the season 2 runner-up says, “I've always thought it would be a great addition to the panel to have someone who's a former contestant and knows what it's like to be up on that stage and be critiqued."

Though 31-year-old Aiken is already plenty busy promoting his new album “Tried & True” and touring this summer with second-season “Idol” champ Ruben Studdard, he says he’d be happy to take the Cowell spot if asked.

"I would not put myself out there to be as caustic as [Cowell] is, but if they want to call me, bring it on,” he said. “We can talk."

The "Wicked Game" singer is the front-runner to replace Simon Cowell as the new judge on "American Idol," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 54-year-old folk singer, who starred in his own series, "The Chris Isaak Show" in 2001 as well as a number of other TV shows, has reportedly met twice with Fox.
Isaak is currently vying for the Brit's spot with Harry Connick Jr., who was one of the favorite mentors this past “Idol” season.
Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that early favorite Bret Michaels is out of the running, though he revealed to HLN's Joy Behar last week that he "would love to do it."
Despite his hosting and producing duties with NBC's "Apprentice" franchise, Donald Trump has also reportedly lobbied to replace Cowell."
Heating up the casting race between Simon Fuller's hit singing show and Cowell's new competition series, "The X-Factor," one candidate is reportedly being wooed by both series.
Though Fox has denied they are close to deciding, the network's chairman, Peter Rice, says he thinks the new "Idol" judge will join the auditions by early September.
"American Idol" auditions for season 10 are already under way and the show is slated to premiere on January 12, 2011.

They chose this over Bret Michaels?? Even though Bret probably couldnt have saved the show (who knows though) why Steven Tyler over public favorite Bret?? It makes no sense to me whatsoever! Of couse my choice would have been Harry Connick jr. Go figure though. Yet another FAIL by AI. Oh and JLo to join him? Who gives a fuck what she has to say? She cant sing for shit. Let me add that along with this rumor is that Kara and Ellen are out and the only returning judge is Randy. Believe me, I wont shed a tear for Kara but a panel of Randy, S Tyler and Jlo is LESS than appealing.
Steven Tyler Says He’s the New American Idol Judge — Probably





American Idol contestants better start singing with some “Sweet Emotion” because Steven Tyler is apparently coming to town.

Though Idol brass hasn’t confirmed the Aerosmith frontman will be joining the judging panel, Tyler spoke of his future endeavors Saturday following his Las Vegas concert.
Commenting briefly before entering a concert afterparty at Studio 54, Tyler said his future plans include “recording an album and [I’m] probably going to be judge on American Idol.”

Rumors of Tyler, 62, joining the restructured panel began surfacing last week. At his Las Vegas concert at MGM Grand, Tyler even poked fun at the rumors telling fans, “The rumors are true … I’m pregnant with [guitarist] Joe Perry’s baby.”

It’s likely Tyler will be joined on the judging panel by Jennifer Lopez, a source told PEOPLE. Revealing little about his probable decision to join Idol, Tyler simply said, “I’m doing it. What do you think? I’m doing it.” – Mark Gray
